All volunteers will go through induction training after a two month probationary period at TRCC.
We believe that volunteering is a worthwhile experience allowing women to share their skills with the organisation and develop other skills during their time at TRCC.
We ask women to show a commitment of volunteering at the centre for a minimum of one year.
How
do I become a volunteer?
If you are interested in volunteering and want more information please
call Dawn, our Development Worker, on
0191 222 0272.
If you get through to the answer machine, leave a brief message with your name and contact number and you will be contacted as soon as possible. Otherwise you can email Dawn.
You will then be invited to come along for an informal chat.
What
qualifications do I need?
None. We
do ask that you have a non-judgmental attitude, an ability to
be open to new learning and a commitment to working in a women
only environment.
How
much time will I have to give?
A
commitment of two hours per week, fortnightly or monthly are available
to meet volunteers needs as well as the organisations.
Do you
offer placements for counselling students?
No. The
centre does not recruit volunteers to do face-to-face counselling.
What
opportunities are available to volunteers?
Helpline
work, fundraising, working with the staff on the training we deliver,
working on a newsletter, raising awareness of our work via talks/research,
support/advocacy.
How will I be supported/supervised?
The
Development Worker and other members of staff will provide
support and will oversee the day-to-day work of volunteers.
You will receive regular one-to-one supervision with the Development Worker and we have a Volunteer Group that enables all volunteers to meet up with each other.
Will
I receive expenses?
Yes. We have a budget for out-of-pocket travel expenses
which you will be reimbursed for. Receipts need to be provided.
